Dear Reader:

The economic damage done by the lockdown of the entire economy earlier this year may be irreparable. With around half of all small businesses now closed for good, millions on unemployment, and savings running dry, many have become dependent on the very institution that has taken their livelihood.

People are reportedly in desperate need of more “federal pandemic relief” that comes from money creation by the central banks. At the command of government, people were forced to shut down their businesses and risk losing everything, including their ability to put food on the table over what turned out to be almost nothing in the grand scheme of things.

The virus is now the least of most people’s concern as they face hunger and homelessness all to avoid catching a viral infection that the very vast majority of people live through. People are impoverished and hurting and to say this a recovery is the height of naivete.

Jobs are scare and in the economic system of the United States, many are unable to pay for the increase in food prices. They may even have trouble putting gas in a car to get to a food bank, where they will wait in long lines for hours to get a small amount of food.

It is unacceptable to even believe that this could even be called a recovery. Look around. If you are lucky enough to still have income, this may seem far off to you. But for almost half of Americans, if not more, the situation is very real and getting more dire by the day.

People now feel that they need the government, the same entity that caused this destruction, to step in and hand out more stimulus checks. Seventy percent of Americans say the federal government should write another round of direct checks, according to a Gallup poll released last month. Eighty-two percent of Democrats in the 5,000-person poll said that was the right thing to do, while 64% of Republicans and 66% of independents agreed.

For most, the stimulus check is already gone. For the few that were able to save the money, it is almost out. Evictions, layoffs, rising food and utility prices will take their toll this winter. There is also a good chance that the stimulus will never come.

It is time to step up as human beings and help others. Do what you can. If you have enough, that is more than some can say. If you can help someone else, do it. Spare what you can and give another a fighting chance. Sometimes all that looks like is using a local business to but a meal one night a week. Maybe that is offering to donate food a food bank. Maybe you can pay for someone’s groceries at the store. All of these things are small but could add up in the long run.

What are those dollars in your bank account worth if we all lose our humanity along the way? Be grateful and helpful during these difficult times because not everyone is fortunate still have their livelihood intact.
