Refuse Normal: Achieve Financial Freedom
Dear Reader,
What’s going on out there isn’t normal, but to go against the status quo takes a bit of courage.
The middle class has signed up gleefully for financed vehicles, 3-decade home loans, credit card debt, financed education (which is freely available online), and a two-income family.
They’re going to jobs they don’t like, sitting in traffic they despise, and outsourcing the raising of their kids to strangers, all to feel “normal.”
The stress of everyday living is leading to divorce, disease, and to put it bluntly, a wasted life.
Want to be rich and happy? The math is simple: live within your means, become an extreme saver, and say no to bad debt.
The McMansion, the BMW, and all of the stuff we buy can’t ever fulfill us in a way quality time with a human can.
It’s almost as if everyone has accepted debt and credit in replacement of real meaningful relationships and time spent here on Earth.
What’s the point of signing up for a life that has you working 10 hours a day, not including traffic, if you have to sacrifice the upbringing of your children and leisure time with other people?
If your car is wrecked tomorrow or house gets blown down by a tornado, no one mourns them – the only thing we care about is that the people inside are okay…
When my iPhone cracked and died a few weeks ago, I didn’t have a funeral for it.
The big lie is that we need all this stuff, that somehow nice things make us better.
It’s to the point that society now regularly borrows money and pays interest on everything in order to possess things.
If you’re just starting out on the road to financial independence, it’s important to think about what exactly your life purpose is.
Ask yourself this:
1. Who do you want to be?
2. Who do you want to do it with?
3. Where do you want to do it?
If people were to say 3 things about you at your funeral, what would they say? Or better yet, what do you want them to say…
I want to help you become extraordinarily wealthy, but here’s the thing: I know that money isn’t going to do anything for you unless you’re thinking clearly.
