By 2016, Netflix had 41M paid subscribers, who were enjoying their content. Those subscribers understood the value of the service and if they chose to do so, any one of them could have owned (NASDAQ: NFLX) shares as well! In the past five years, the share price had appreciated by over 450%.

Using this same logic, users of Facebook, which in 2012, already had 1bn of them, could have taken the extra step of conducting due diligence on the company. In the past eight years, its share price had appreciated by 621%.

The examples of this in the past five years are, of course, numerable and include the likes of Apple Inc. (+479%), Amazon (+406%) and Tesla (+2,126%).
