Dear Reader,

I recently read a very sad story about Venezuelans crying at the sight of fully-stocked grocery shelves. After having the Colombian border temporarily closed, upon the re-opening, pregnant women, children, and other Venezuelans wept as they entered the supermarket.

These tearful people had gone weeks without basic food items and personal essentials. This, coming from a country that has the highest proven oil reserves on the planet!

No doubt, socialism has had its full effect in this country. Eventually, you do run out of other peoples’ money and crush the incentive of your productive citizens to perform at their maximum level.

Reading this story is sad, and it reminded of me of how important it is to be grateful for what you have. It encouraged me to share something very private with you today. It’s a powerful source for wealthy living, and deals directly with your mindset.

I’ve put this into practice with my own family every day. Without exception, we start off each meal by asking each other what we are thankful for. My 3 children, wife, and I all share our appreciation. Having a grateful attitude and thankful heart are important for wealthy living, no matter what your financial condition is.

For all the first-world problems we face here in the U.S., they are nothing compared to the uncertainty and fear some parents face daily when it comes to just making sure they can feed their children.

No matter what you are experiencing in life, always remember to have a grateful and appreciative spirit.

The next time you’re having a bad day or are angry, just start listing all the things you are thankful for. You’ll be surprised how quickly your perception on life can change. Because you can’t be upset if you’re being thankful.

Stress, depression, and anger all take a toll on your body and mind, which is why being thankful is ultimately a source for living truly wealthy.
